This plugin was created to solve a real-world problem encountered while operating a public Joomla website with a Kunena discussion forum.

Over time, the forum became a target for automated bots posting comments containing spam links. Although these comments were rejected or cleaned up, the constant bot activity increased unnecessary server load and generated additional administrative work.

At the same time, the repeated "Powered by Kunena" branding links offered another incentive for automated crawlers and spam bots that routinely search the web for platforms where backlinks can be placed. Even when those links are marked appropriately, large numbers of low-quality outbound links and spam attempts do not contribute positively to a website's overall SEO health or user experience.
